About Us

The Programme in Project Management (PPM) has been a cornerstone offering since 1997, boasting over 200 intakes and a commitment to staying current with the latest industry trends. Led by the esteemed Prof Herman Steyn, the PPM has become a sought-after credential, with thousands across various sectors of business and government benefiting from its comprehensive curriculum.

The Graduate School of Technology Management (GSTM) at the University of Pretoria, is responsible for the academic content of the PPM and is the undisputed leader in project management education, training and research in Africa. The GSTM is a registered education provider and accredited training provider of the Project Management Institute (USA) since 2003.

The Programme in Project Management (PPM) is recognised by ECSA, PMSA, SACPCMP, SACNASP and the PMI and is largely developed and presented by the same lecturers who teach Africa’s only master’s programme in project management.

The PPM is recognized by the following:

  1. PMI (Project Management Institute) – USA and Globally
  2. ECSA (Engineering Council of SA)
  3. SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions)
  4. SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professionals)
  5. PMSA (Project Management South Africa)

On successful completion of the PPM, suitable candidates may be eligible to apply for the professional designation of Project Manager (PM) conferred by Project Management South Africa (PMSA). PMSA is the SAQA recognized professional body representing the interests of project managers across sectors.
