Anneli Delport

Anneli Delport is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Financial Management at the University of Pretoria and previously also worked at the Tshwane University of Technology.

She is also an alumni of the University of Pretoria, where she obtained a B.Com Hons degree in Accounting Science & Certificate in the Theory of Accounting in 2004. She returned to the University of Pretoria and obtained Masters Degree in Financial Management in 2020. Anneli qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) at the end of 2006.

Prof Giel Bekker

Giel is Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Technology Management at the University of Pretoria where he is the Academic Lead of the Master’s Programme in Project Management (MPM), the only master’s programme in project management on the African Continent that is accredited by the GAC of the PMI (Project Management Institute). His tuition is primarily focused on the MEM (Masters in Engineering Management) and MPM (Masters in Project Management) programmes as well as various short courses to specific clients and institutions like Eskom, ABSA, Dept of Water Affairs, Denel, Habitat for Humanities, MTN, Glencore, Group 5, Anglo American, Kumba, Sasol, Exxaro, Komatiland, etc. The APPM (Advanced Programme in Project Management) was developed under his leadership. In 2009 he received an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to teach on the Master in Strategic Project Management Programme at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland and in 2011 at Umea University in Sweden on the same programme. He is also a visiting scholar at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania.

Prof Herman Steyn

Herman Steyn is an experienced, practical project manager who has been pursuing his academic interests in project management since 1996.

Project Management Practitioner

His practical experience includes 22 years in project environments prior to joining the University. During this period he held senior positions, managed large and small projects and assumed responsibility for the management of portfolios of projects. Budget responsibility in 1990, for example, c.a. US$ 168 million (in 2017 US$ value).

Since joining the University, he has been actively involved in project management workshops, seminars and as consultant.

He has been registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA for most of his career.

Dr Schalk Grobler

Associate Professor, Department of Engineering and Technology Management, Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & IT, University of Pretoria

I am currently an Associate Professor specialising in Technology and Innovation Management, as well as Risk Management. I perform research in these fields and also data science. Some of my latest research projects utilised supervised machine learning (Artificial Intelligence) to classify academic papers using natural language processing. I utilised Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Studio.

During my time at York Timbers I was the Group Engineer and my responsibilities focused on project development and execution.

Dr Greyling Viljoen

Dr Greyling Viljoen is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa). He has postgraduate degrees in Psychology and Theology and a PhD in Psychotherapy. His area of specialisation is group behaviour and group dynamics. Greyling has been in full time clinical and sport psychology private practice since 2004.

Prior to private practice he was the managing director of Team & Leadership Development Centre (Pty) Ltd, a business that he co-founded with Prof Drikus Kriek. The focus of TLDC is to change behaviour to support business process change. In 2003 Greyling and Prof Kriek published the book: “Teambuilding: A Manual for Leading Teams”. During the transitional period to a democratic South Africa, Greyling was a chief facilitator of the Psychological Integration Programme; a project to support the integration of the statutory and non-statutory defence and armed forces.

Mnr Reniel Engelbrecht

Reniel is Projects Director at ProjectWay Consulting and Contracting. His is involved the management of a portfolio of projects for various clients, either directly or with a team of project managers and engineers. Clients have included Daimler AG, Rift Valley Holdings, Glencore, Mintails, Harmony Gold, MTN, Anglo American, ABSA (via Richmark) and Eskom.

Completed projects include motor manufacturing Infrastructure, mine development, water management, conveyor systems, mine ventilation, rehabilitation, retail banking infrastructure refurbishment, game farm tourism development, rural electrification, process plants and support infrastructure, as well as the development of customized project management methodologies.

Prof Taryn Barnard

Prof Taryn Barnard is an experienced project manager and industrial engineer who is currently pursuing her academic interests.

Qualifications and Affiliations

BEng Industrial Engineering (cum laude), MEng Project Management (cum laude) and a PhD in Project Management, all from the University of Pretoria.

Taryn is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2® Practitioner and is registered as a professional engineer with ECSA.

In 2017 she was selected for the prestigious Tuks Young Research Leader Programme. In 2018 she was awarded the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Global Young Researcher Award.

Dr Corro Van Waveren

Corro van Waveren is a Senior Lecturer in the Graduate School of Technology Management at the University of Pretoria. He holds the degrees B.Eng. (Mechanical), M.Eng. (Mechanical) and M.Eng. (Engineering Management), all from the University of Pretoria.

He has been involved in project management training (short courses and certificate courses in project management) since 2004.

He started his career as a full time engineer at the company, the Laboratory for Advanced Engineering (Pty) Ltd where he was involved with projects mainly in the automotive and defence industries.

He later joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pretoria and during the same time he was a consultant, project manager, assistant manager and project portfolio manager of the Structural Mechanics and Dynamics Group of the Laboratory for Advanced Engineering (Pty) Ltd leading multiple projects with a common resource base.

Prof Krige Visser

Krige Visser (PhD) is an Emeritus Professor from the University of Pretoria since 2016. Having graduated as a Chemical Engineer at the University of Stellenbosch in 1973, Krige Visser was mainly involved in research and development at the Atomic Energy Corporation of South Africa from 1974 to 1988. He was also involved in the commissioning of a pilot plant and the full-scale uranium enrichment plant. Various pilot plant investigations were performed to determine the performance of the process gas separation elements. One project also comprised an investigation into the removal of oil vapor from hydrogen by means of activated carbon adsorption columns. This project led to the PhD degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pretoria in 1990.

He then joined the Denel company from 1988 to 1974 where he was involved in systems engineering and project management in armaments procurement. One project involved the design and development of a chemical survival system for an armoured car. He was appointed as manager for a business unit with 27 employees.

Dr Adriette Dekker

Adriette Dekker is an admitted attorney, conveyancer and notary of the High Court of South Africa and obtained her doctorate degree in labour law in 2005. She was in full-time practice for 5 years before she joined UNISA in 2003. She served as a Professor in Labour Law at UNISA for more than 10 years whereafter she decided to return to private practice. She is a freelance academic specialist and she continues to teach labour law on a part-time basis at various tertiary institutions.

Adriette holds a BLC (cum laude) LLB from the University of Pretoria and a LLM and LLD from the University of South Africa. She also has an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law (University of Johannesburg) and a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (cum laude) presented and accredited by the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) & University of Pretoria. She is also a panel member of AFSA

Dr Dolf Steyn

Dr Dolf Steyn, is fifty-nine years of age, married, father to three children and grandpa to one.

He is currently self-employed as freelance Project manager, Higher Education consultant, and facilitator. His last full-time position was that of Managing Director for Pearson Institute of Higher Education (commonly referred to as a private University). Having led a national multi campus company which was internationally owned by a London listed company, he is well salted and equipped to deal with the range, complexity, and nature of the associated challenges. He has rich experience in dealing with all components of managing, leading, technology adoption and working in Higher education and the international corporate environment.

During his time as a Lead consultant at Deloitte consulting, he started a project management office for a team who among others did SABA installations, LMS rollouts and custom software solutions.

Prof Birgit Kuschke

Prof Birgit Kuschke graduated with the degrees BLC (cum laude) in 1986 and LLB (cum laude) in 1988 from the University of Pretoria and the LLD degree in 2009 at the University of South Africa. Kuschke holds a C2 NRF-rating as researcher.

She is a practising attorney, notary, and conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa (admitted in 1994) and practised for her own account from 1994 until 2005 and resumed her attorneys practice from September 2020. As a practising attorney she lectures Drafting of Contracts for candidate attorneys at the Law Schools presented under the auspices of the Law Society of South Africa.

Kuschke served as Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning of the Faculty of Law from 1 July 2018 until 2019, as Acting Dean (ad hoc) and is currently an Associate professor in the Department of Mercantile Law and a co-Director of the Unit for Insurance Law and Governance.
