Adriette Dekker is an admitted attorney, conveyancer and notary of the High Court of South Africa and obtained her doctorate degree in labour law in 2005. She was in full-time practice for 5 years before she joined UNISA in 2003. She served as a Professor in Labour Law at UNISA for more than 10 years whereafter she decided to return to private practice. She is a freelance academic specialist and she continues to teach labour law on a part-time basis at various tertiary institutions.
Adriette holds a BLC (cum laude) LLB from the University of Pretoria and a LLM and LLD from the University of South Africa. She also has an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law (University of Johannesburg) and a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (cum laude) presented and accredited by the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) & University of Pretoria. She is also a panel member of AFSA.
Adriette is a seasoned academic and was an NRF-rated researcher when in full-time academia. Five students obtained their doctorate degrees (LLD) under her promotership. She has presented a number of papers at international and national conferences. She also publishes widely in the field of labour and social security law and has also acted as co-author of a number of textbooks in this field. She is actively involved in project management training.
Adriette is married and has 3 children.
