
Dr Suzaan Pretorius is a Senior Lecturer at the Graduate School of Technology Management (GSTM), University of Pretoria. She joined the institution in 2015 as a part-time lecturer and later worked as a researcher, supervising 22 master’s students to completion, with four additional students expected to graduate in 2026.
She completed her PhD in 2019, focusing on how project-specific factors influence leadership styles and their impact on project performance, particularly the balance between vertical and shared leadership in different project contexts. From 2020 to 2022, she served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pretoria.
Her current research explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence in project management. In addition to supervising Master’s and PhD students, she contributes to the development of the Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and teaches a Project Management Module to engineering students. She also presents professional short courses in project management.
Dr Pretorius delivers customised project management short courses to a range of organisations, including the Armaments Corporation of South Africa (Armscor), Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), the South African Civil Aviation Authority, the Public Investment Corporation (South Africa), Gauteng Provincial Legislator, Tronox Mines, ABSA Bank, and Transnet Freight Rail.
