How the Programme in Project Management (PPM) relates to the PMP certification of the PMI (Project Management Institute)

The primary purpose of the PPM is to develop your project management skills, i.e. how to manage projects well.

The PPM is valuable for people who want to obtain the international PMP certification from the PMI, and the PMI endorses the PPM as 160 PDU hours (Professional Development Unit hours).

In addition to project management training and education, the PMI has additional requirements for PMP certification, including practical work experience and passing the PMP exam. For details, please visit the PMI website

While the purpose of the Programme in Project Management is to develop your project management skills, it also provides valuable background for the PMP exam. However, the main objective of the PPM is not to teach you to pass the exam, and PMP exam preparation courses to coach you to pass the exam are available, amongst others, from EUP (Enterprises University of Pretoria).
