Congratulations, Prof Herman Steyn

Congratulations to Prof Herman Steyn on receiving the College of Performance Management Professor of the Year Award.

This esteemed award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate excellence in teaching, produce significant research outputs, and has published academic papers or books in performance management.

Prof Herman Steyn is widely acclaimed as the co-author (with J. Nicholas) of the renowned textbook Project Management for Engineering, Technology & Business, with its 7th edition set to be published in 2025. This textbook is used by universities worldwide and has been translated into multiple languages, including Polish, Mandarin, and Ukrainian.

In the 1990s, Prof. Steyn initiated the GSTM’s highly successful Master’s in Project Management (MPM) programme, as well as the Programme in Project Management (PPM), offered through Enterprises University of Pretoria (EUP).

As an Emeritus Professor, Prof. Steyn’s impactful research—including on performance management aspects such as earned value management—has been cited over 3,800 times, and he continues to publish journal and conference articles.

The College of Performance Management (CPM) is an esteemed project management organization dedicated to advancing metrics and management practices for projects, programs, and portfolios.

On successful completion of the PPM, suitable candidates may be eligible to apply for the professional designation of Project Manager (PM) conferred by Project Management South Africa (PMSA). PMSA is the SAQA recognized professional body representing the interests of project managers across sectors.
