Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) has recently kicked of its first round of certificate ceremonies for 2018 to acknowledge those delegates who have put in the hard work and dedication to successfully complete their training programmes and short courses for the 2017/2018 season. The first ceremony took place on Wednesday, 9 May 2018 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria with delegates, family and friends celebrating their successes.

The evening was opened by Professor Elma van der Lingen, HOD: Graduate School of Technology Management, as she reflected on delegates’ achievements and also further congratulated by Professor Mike Ward, course leader on the Executive Education Programmes presented in collaboration with the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

Apart from the course leaders, course presenters and other academics and experts involved in presenting these programmes, they were joined by special guest speaker, Ms Palesa Ramashala, Managing Director of Excellence Business Consulting and certified Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) practitioner.

“With developments taking place in South Africa and across the globe, South Africa is facing a new era in which we need to continue growing and this is an opportunity for you to make a contribution through the knowledge you have acquired,” Ms Ramashala encouraged all the delegates.

“I hope this is a path that you continue on as education is a way to empower yourself to grow and remain relevant in an environment that is rife with change. We need to improve our competitiveness as a nation, and for this we need new ideas that will position us as a growing economy.”

Ms Ramashala also described how she believes that as a nation, we are more than capable of developing new technologies and commercialising them in order to develop new industries. There are new business models that have emerged that all lead to different ways of doing business, thereby creating opportunities for careers that do not even exist today.

The programmes that were represented during the ceremony included:

We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to all the delegates who have completed the road in knowledge transfer, commending them for the commitment and time they have sacrificed in taking their career journeys to new heights.

In the words of Ms Ramashala, “My plea to you is that you should be on the lookout for opportunities. To do things differently or better. The ideas you have are valuable – share them so that we can build something phenomenal together.”
