Dr Taryn Bond-Barnard

The International Project Management Association (IPMA) is a global project management association with 40,000 members in more than 60 countries.

IPMA annually rewards two top researchers in project management from the global project management research community. One of these annual rewards goes to the “Young Researcher of the Year”.

The 2018 Global Research Award as Young Researcher has been bestowed on Dr Taryn Bond-Barnard who teaches Project Procurement Management on the PPM.

Taryn is a Senior Lecturer at the GSTM (Graduate School of Technology Management) of the University of Pretoria where she teaches project management at post-graduate levels (honours and master’s degree programmes).   She also teaches the following Examination Preparation courses for PMI (Project Management Institute) certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) and PMI Certified Project Management Associate (CAPM).

The PMP and CAPM Exam Prep courses are, like the PPM, offered by Enterprises, University of Pretoria.

The award ceremony took place on 3 September 2018 at a gala event during the IPMA Research Conference in Rio de Janeiro where Taryn received the award and gave an overview of her research to an audience of renowned researchers and practitioners in the field of project management.

Taryn’s PhD research project led to six peer-reviewed outputs, including a paper in the International Journal of Project Management and one in the International Journal of Managing Projects in Business. The PhD study was supervised by the PPM course leader, Prof Herman Steyn, and co-supervised by Dr Lizelle Fletcher of the University of Pretoria Department of Statistics.

The announcement was recently posted at the following IPMA webpage:
